Neighborhood Evacuation

Heavy rains caused a landslide in a Maggie Valley neighborhood on Wildcat Run Lane early Wednesday morning.

It destroyed at least one home. Rescue crews say that home looks like quote, "the landfill." An elderly couple inside suffered scraped and bruises. Rescue crews took them to Haywood Regional Medical Center. They expect them to be okay.

Rescue Crews say the area around the slide is unsafe. They evacuated at least eight homes. They are concerned with the possibility of additional landslides occurring later today or tonight.
